32. Honno-ji Incident

Honno-ji IncidentToday, I write about “Honno-ji Incident.”
The 16th century was a period of war.
Meanwhile, Oda Nobunaga won war and expanded the territory.
Oda Nobunaga was called the ” Satan.”
He exterminated the enemy.
He killed those all that disobey.
He ignored even the authority of the “Emperor.”
He killed even the high priest.
He did not fear even God.
He said, “I am God.”

Akechi Mitsuhide was Oda Nobunaga’s excellent subordinate.

1582, Oda Nobunaga ordered Akechi Mitsuhide to go into battle.
And he said.
“Your territory is confiscated, that is your territory when winning war”.

June 1, 1582
Nobunaga Oda stays at Honno-ji Temple.

Akechi Mitsuhide said to vassals.
“Our Enemy is in the Honno-ji Temple”

June 2, Akechi Mitsuhide’s army (13000 persons) surrounds Honno-ji Temple,
and started attacking all at once.

Oda Nobunaga’s army fights back.
However, they were only 100 persons.
Oda Nobunaga thinks that he lost and commits suicide.
This is the “Honnoji Incident.”

Akechi Mitsuhide requested reinforcements from military commanders.
However, almost military commanders refused.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Akechi Mitsuhide fought.
Akechi Mitsuhide lost.
Akechi Mitsuhide It seems that it died then.

And it becomes the Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s period.

A mystery is often in history.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi’s period over and it becomes the Tokugawa Ieyasu’s period.
There is a priest called Nankobo Tenkai.
Nankobo Tenkai was top-ranked brain of the Tokugawa family.
He was called “Buddhist priest who is a government minister.”
He lived to 107 years old.
The grave of Nankobo Tenkai is near Akechi Mitsuhide’s wife and children’s grave.
Nankobo Tenkai may be Akechi Mitsuhide.
However, it is a mystery.
