41.Tea utensils of Sengoku period

Today, I write about “Tea utensils of Sengoku period.”
The 16th century,　Japan was Sengoku period (period of warring states in Japan)
The famous tea utensils had the same value as life at that time.

Oda Nobunaga extended sphere of influence at that time.
Matsunaga Hisahide surrendered to Oda Nobunaga , and became his subordinate.
However, Hisahide betrayed Nobunaga.

1577, Nobunaga makes a son (Oda Nobutada) attack the castle of Hisahide.
The Oda army surrounded the castle.

Nobunaga said to Hisahide, “If you offer me hirakumo iron teakettl, I do not kill you.”
“Hirakumo iron teakettl“ was a famous iron teakettl.
Nobunaga is a collector of tea utensils.
Hisahide said, “I do not offer hirakumo iron teakettle and my head.“
He put gunpowder into “Hirakumo iron teakettl“, and it was fixed to the own neck.
He climbed the castle tower and died from blasting.

If they are alive now, I will say.
I will look for “Hirakumo iron teakettl“.
