26. Toyoda Sakichi

Today, I write about “A carpenter’s challenge”.
1867, The last year of samurai’s period.
He was born as a son of the carpenters.
His name is “Toyoda Sakichi”.
He becomes a carpenter after graduation from elementary school.
He thought that he want to serve Japan.
He challenged improvement of weaving machine.
His father objected.
The villager made a fool of him.
1890, first weaving machine was completed after some failure.
It was a machine with sufficient productivity.
He obtained a patent.
After that, he continued research.
1893, he marries.
However, he hardly went home for research.
The eldest son (Kiichiro) is born.
However, his wife runs away from home.
1897, he invented new type weaving machine.
He marries again.
He was quite eager in studies.
He did not consider an expense and the appointed date of delivery.
He had friction with the coworker.
1910, he went on a tour of inspection to United States.
He thought that one’s machine was superior to an American machine.
He returned to Japan, and continues research further.
1924, he completed the weaving machine which progressed, and he acquired the patent.
1929, he sells the patent to the British company.
He gives a son (Kiichiro) assets ,and he says to son.
“It is age of the car from now on, Make the car, and serve the Japan.”
1930, he dies at 64 years old.
His son established a car company.
There is “TOYOTA” in the car which his son made.
