Today, I write about “San Andreas park”.
“San Andreas park” is located at the place moved about 5 minutes by car from my house.
The monument and the playground equipment of this park were destroyed by a tsunami of last year.
The name of this park is not Japanese.
The origins of “San Andreas park ” are as follows.
1611, A Spanish explorer visits Japan.
His name is Sebastián Vizcaíno.
1609, Japan rescued the wrecked Spain ship.
He visits Japan as a messenger of the gratitude.
He was planning investigation of gold mine and silver mine.
He gets permission of the surveying of the Japanese coast from a general.
About 400years ago, Sebastián Vizcaíno visits my town for surveying investigation.
There is a complicated coastline.
He names here “San Andreas bay”.
When this park was completed, my town used “San Andreas” which he named it.
December 2, 1611, he encountered tsunami in this offing.
Because he was on the remote sea from the land, he did not have the damage.
Thereafter, he loses a ship by a storm.
1613, He went back to his own country on samurai’s ship (The Party of Hasekura Tsunenaga) for Europe.
