7. Samurais who lost work

Today, I write about Samurais who lost work.
The samurai’s time was over in October, 1867.
Samurais more than 30,000 lost work then.
Some samurais fought against the new government.
However, most of samurais did the following choice.

1. Government official of the new government.
They are minority. However, it hurt their pride.

2. Agriculture or commerce.
Most of them failed
Service is bad , They were said to be “the commercial law of the samurai”.
And it was laughed.

3. Moved to Suruga ( Shizuoka ).
“Tokugawa Yoshinobu” (the last shogun) moved to Suruga (Shizuoka).
Many samurais moved to Suruga (Shizuoka).
However, the salary was not paid to them

Samurais had a hard time

The samurai who moved to Suruga clear the land , and began cultivation of the green tea.
And they thought that education was important, and they established a school.

Several years passed.

The cultivation of the green tea succeeded.
Now, Suruga (Shizuoka) became the production center of the best green tea in Japan.
And “the excellent person” who graduated from a school in Suruga became government official.
30% of government official were from Suruga then.
Samurai and its children supported new era.
They are not famous.
