4. One pine of miracle

Today, I write about “One pine of miracle”.
The beach was located at the place moved about 15 minutes by car from my house.
2km sandy beach, 70,000 pine groves.
That was many persons’ healing place.
In 2009, 1,040,000 tourists visited that.
1993, I met the one woman there and fell in love.
One year after, we held the marriage ceremony in the hotel near the beach.
The beach is my family’s start point.

March 11, 2011
The Great East Japan Earthquake.
Beach of Takata-matsubara.
Tsunami over 10 m came.

Sandy beach disappeared by land subsidence.
Only only one pine remained.
However, the root of the pine tree rotted.
It seems that the pine cannot live although we are sad.

Now, the project of hope is progressing.
It is a project which extracts and cultivates a seedling from only one pine.
Probably the gene of this seedling will have evolved.
I think that this seedling has strong capability to a disaster.
I think that a pine grove is reproduced.
I would like to see the scene.

Only one pine was cut down.
It is reproduced as a monument (A part is a replica).
It is due to be completed around June, 2013.
